I've been posting art on DeviantArt for a while now, and one of the features I get with my subscription is a portfolio page. I will not be updating this art blog much in the future, since I hope to direct people toward these pages (the portfolio in particular), in an effort to project a more professional image of myself as an artist.
So I don't know what's happening to this blog. I'll probably keep it up, mainly because there are a few pieces on here that I haven't posted anywhere else, but this might be the last update.

Fracking Camera
Gahh...I need a new camera. I finished a couple of new paintings, and I wanted to take some pictures of them, plus make new pictures of the other two that didn't turn out so well, plus take a picture of an old drawing that I like, but guess what...camera has decided to be retarded. Actually it's just the xD card that's being retarded...well, actually, the whole camera is being retarded. Nevermind. I guess I know what the next expensive item on my long list of things I need is going to be. Argh. Freaking xD cards and auto focus crap! and other such complaints of a nonessential nature...

Logo Project
A friend/coworker asked me to draw a cartoonish logo for his auto detail business. (For those of you who don't know, auto detailing is basically a more extensive version of a car wash, usually including the interior of the car, as well as chemical treatment for leather upholstery and wax/weather treatment for the exterior.) He suggested a cartoon car. So I drew one, and then I added a little border. Check it out.

Plum Tree Sketches
So a friend of mine asked me to draw a plum tree in bloom for her tattoo. Of course, I have no idea what a plum tree looks like, so I do some web searches. What I find is mainly that plum trees have always looked better in drawings than in real life; artists throughout history seem to have this knack for idealizing the gnarled, diagonal composition of anything they draw. So I decided to go with the idealized version of the plum tree, since that seems to be what my friend would most like to have as a tattoo. I mean, I know I wouldn't want a photorealistic, boring ol' plum tree tattooed on my heinie. I'd want the windswept, romantic, contorted, gnarled, Japanese-style ornamental plum tree. That's what I tried to capture in these two drawings.
